1) Fix defensive frailties
The Reds have become well known for their inability to defend at a top level, a relic of the Brendan Rodgers era. Having famously missed out on the Premier League title due to a defence which shipped far too many goals, the need to fix defensive frailties now rests on Klopp.
There were some improvements last season, but the manager needs to find his preferred centre-back partnership and stick with it. Thankfully, Mamadou Sakho has been cleared from a suspension by UEFA, and Joel Matip has been signed to provide a physical presence at the back. Fellow summer signing Loris Karius will replace the error-prone Simon Mignolet in goal, whilst Alex Manninger provides experienced cover.
